Item was as described and worked like a charm. I like the wind sensor option….

Poor assembly quality
Once again a disappointment from Solera. Parts missing, pins on the arms won’t stay in, controller won’t work to control lights, plastic head broken from over tightening screws. A lot of my customers have me install these but after so many let downs I’m going to start directing them to a different awning style. Poor quality, never get any customer service and I just get left in the dust with unhappy customers and money out of my pocket.

Works, but power is a problem. Not a plug-and-play replacement.
The Smart Arm is not a plug and play replacement for other power awnings. It requires an extra, always powered 12V circuit for the external control box. You can use your internal awning switch with it, but that won't use the Smart Arm controller. If you bypass the internal switch, then you can use the Smart Arm, but the inside switch is useless. To use it to its full capability, you need to have both a circuit wired through the internal switch AND an extra, unswitched, 12V circuit. The problem is that with many campers it is VERY difficult to add an extra wire after manufacturing. The walls are generally a foam-filled solid. The ceilings may not be solid (or they may be) but roof panels in most campers are glued down in manufacturing so roof access isn't easy. It may be possible to pull an extra wire using one of the existing wires-- or you may end up losing or breaking the wire somewhere in the wall. Also, it's surprising that for something that costs $900+ that there were no installation instruction in the box. Fortunately, it didn't take too long to find the PDF online and luckily I have a printer, so the instructions were available for use outside, in the bright sunshine. If you don't have a printer at home, find and print the instructions at work or a copy center. Also, the Amazon listing shows that an internal switch and mount is included-- it was missing from my box. Don't count on having the switch if you are wiring a completely new awning.I bought the wind sensor, which was easy to install and pretty simple to use. For some reason, though, no one know what the approximate wind speeds are for the sensor's low, medium, and high sensitivity. I'll have to figure out by trial-and-error which sensitivity is appropriate. If I had to do it again, I'd save a few hundred dollars and buy replacement standard power brackets instead of the Smart Arms. I had a damaged awning, not due to wind but a road-hazard so I had to replace the arms. The wind-sensor is an unknown benefit, but it is going to be a problem to ONLY be able to control the awning from outside. In my case, running an extra power line was not possible due to the solid walls, so we had to bypass the inside switch. The Smart Arms, with the wind sensor, may be perfect for you. Unfortunately, for me, it is adequate but far from perfect.

Great upgrade to manual awning.
One year review. Replaced my manual Dometic awning. Fairly easy to install, hardest part was running the wires. Lippert customer service was excellent when I had questions.Love having the switches outside but would recommend installing inside switches too. Only thing used from old awning was the tube and the cover. Would highly recommend the wind sensor, great peace of mind when leaving the camper for the day. Have come back with the awning retracted because of high wind. After one year of use, still working perfect and loving it.

Damaged drive motor cover
Box was in questionable shape so when opened I examined closely. The cover for the drive motor side was misshapen and cracked open.

will update later
I did a review of the condition when received; Amazon would not post and I understand. This product needed to be replaced due to damage when received. The response in replacement was terrific I had them within a couple of days. The arms look great and they are an upgrade to original equipment. They have not been installed yet so I will update this when done.
