Q: Can anybody confirm that the standard version of this lantern has a memory function that remembers the previous light level setting?

Morning, Jeff. Thanks for asking. To help you out I tested my Ledlenser ML6 just now. I tried three (3) different settings for comparison. Each setting can be remembered in memory when you power off. I tried for you: Lowest level brightness white light Lowest level brightness red light Flashing white light on high brightness If I powered the unit off on the middle of the switch by holding it down for 1 second, it came back to the same setting when I powered it on again. Hope that might answer some of your questions with various settings compared and tried on the ML6. Feel free to ask any other specifics you might have. By the way, you may want to get a spare battery for your ML6. Their rechargeable batteries hold their charge very well. I keep one attached to my handle in a small plastic bag, along with the charging cable. Nice to have everything all together during an emergency. At the time, I had to purchase the battery through the manufacturer, not Amazon.

Q: Does the app/Bluetooth function turn the light on and off?

Yes. Can control all the light modes and brightness levels, and off/on from the App. The app isn't that well designed but once you figure it out, its easy enough.
