You use the phrase 8-ball connector in product description and 5-ball connector in features & detail. Which one is it & does it make a difference?

The orion 4 manifold gauge set quick connects were a bit wobbly. had to use nylog blue to get a decent seal. are the "classics" sold here any better?

The allowed me to pull a vacuum and fill my Nissan Altima system using yellow jacket gauges and these quick connects without a problem...

Will this work on the new generation A/C service ports?

R134a yes. R1234yf no. In 2016 some, and in 2018 going forward most domestic cars come with R-1234yf refrigerant which has different quick-coupler port sizes deliberately to prevent intermix of refrigerant types. R134a couplers are 13mm Lo-side and 16mm Hi-side. I don't recall the sizes for R-1234yf systems but they are different. The systems are very similar but the oils/refrigerants are NOT compatible so do not attempt to top off your R-1234yf system with more affordable R-134a.

Would this help with a leaky service port?

No. In order to get the fitting to seal a leaky service port, you have to open the fitting. This would depress the schrader valve. The freon would then leak out through the fitting. Plus, these fittings are large and cumbersome. You wouldn't want one just sitting on top of your service port.
