Q: How far do the blade tangs extend into the handle? Is there more than just plastic beneath your fingers?

That is not true, the tangs penetrate the handle by well over two inches !

Q: I broke a pair of regular household scissors cutting through cotton balls, harder than you’d think. Would the 8” scissors be able to do this task?

After seeing your question I got a cotton ball and cut right though it. So these scissors will do the job!!

I know that they will cut carpet that was put in a boat. The carpet was very thick with tuff material.

No to branches but I have cut 1/4” rubber easily.
