Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, Vol. 1: Volume 1 Paperback – 2 Mar. 2022

Frieren : Beyond Journey's End made me cry when I watched it. Probably because I am old. But that's not the point. It was brilliant. I've been reading comics since the 70s when I was a bairn and Japanese comics since they first started appearing in the late 80s. But age makes you slow down so I am ashamed to say it was the telly that turned me on to this book. It is brilliant. The art is not 21st century bells and whistles and is simple and yet full enough to give the sense of the characters as they grown and change. Well, some of them change. It's beautifully paced and a rewarding read. I watched the Anime first so maybe I'm biased but I have seriously enjoyed both. As a grumpy dyed-in-the-wool comics fan of 40-odd years I found plenty of heart and a fascinating world within these pages. What more could you want?

This is a intriguing story with characters who seem very real. Small scenes show you what they are like and how they relate to each other very efficiently. It’s melancholy at times but overall very sweet. I would recommend it for anyone who had enjoyed fantasy fiction. It is suitable for younger people if they are confident readers (the manga layout can be a little challenging).

I fell in love with the anime and wanted to read the manga. Just as amazing :)

I love it so much, it has beautiful art and a beautiful story. I can't stop reading once I pick it up!

Its good please read this - the german names with meanings behind them are really sick aswell

When I heard about it, I thought it would be incredibly sad. And, in a way, it was. But it does make me think about life and how long we have left. Sad. Pretty. I quite love it, I think.
