It's lightweight but awesome
The Ned Foss Multifunctional Pack Hatchet is seriously low maintenance. Nothing sticks to the blued steel finish, and the 420HC has held a very sharp cutting edge through many hundreds of throws, some hardwood Carving, and a bit of chopping which it did surprisingly well. It must be hardened and tempered just right. My other tomahawks don't hold an edge as long. The Ned Foss MPH only required fine stone and strop honing. I oiled it too. Then I did my knives. So all my EDC is razor sharp, clean and oiled. The Ned Foss Multifunctional Pack Hatchet is durably tough in looks and use. Mine has been used hard and I carry it EDC as a dangler from my belt using its modified sheath attached to a paracord soft shackle. Mine looks brand new and it carves nicely. Just an amazing durable edge, all of it really. The spike works for sticking throws, and it can be used to rip up roots for to make a quick rope whatever. It also will stick the handle butt eith the nail puller when throwing.I totally dig it. Wish Ned Foss would make a 17 ounce version without making the handle thicker or anything except heavier head. Wish it came with a quality well designed yet brief Kydex sheath. Definitely a seriously great value for the money.

Very sharp
I never write reviews but I damn near cut my finger off with this and the cut didn't even hurt. Wasn't even blood on the blade. Really sharp so don't be dumb like me lol

Great hatchet, great value
I like tomahawks, hatchets, and axes and thought this would be a fun addition to the collection. It is. It is small, came sharp, and I am sure I will enjoy it.

Nice Size
I carry this in the car with my trauma for "just in case" situations. Great little axe and would buy again.

So who is Ned Foss?
Ok, ok... I'll admit it. When I saw knife designer "Ned Foss" had a small camp axe I was intrigued. I dabble in knife collecting and had never heard of this blade designer. I received this cute little display "axe" today and was both surprised, disappointed and eventually, content. So who is Ned Foss? Good ol Ned... bearded back countryman, knifesmith and all around outdoorsman? No, no sad to say "Ned Foss" is company out of China that has done an excellent job branding. That said, Ned if you read this review, fix the typos on your website, they are subtle but obvious enough to stand out.Oh, the product... this adorable little "axe"... it actually isn't bad, a lot smaller than I imagined but may come in useful and can pack away easily with gear. Leather sheath is nice, build quality seems ok. Pretty sharp out of box! I just feel a little duped thinking I stumbled across a blade designer unknown to me. * MADE IN CHINA :/

Pretty small, but sharp
As a stand alone camp axe, a bit small, tho I'd put it in a 1-2 day pack. Otherwise, it could be best used when accompanied by three other essentials...a folding saw, a good bushcraft knife, and a multitool. Sheath is ok, but not exceptional.
