Relatively easy to install
Nice alarms, easy to “use”, but I found the method of attaching them to the wall slightly tricky - the position of the screws isn’t a standard gap. Otherwise really good for the price.

Excellent product - well designed
Good points:It has removable batteries. I like this because I can remove them if it starts to go wrong, or if I'm going away for a while. It is easy to fit - you just put 2 screws through the backing plate and fix this to the wall. Then simply twist the detector on to the plate. Very easy. The test button produces a tone that is at a lot lower volume than the proper alarm. So testing doesn't make you jump out of your skin.A very well though out product 10/10

So far so good
Bought lots of FireAngels over the years, always very pleased with them. The 10 year ones never last me 10 years though, more like 6 or 7, so this time I went for one with replaceable AA cells as they're dirt cheap (Alkaline GP brand, really good value for money, I've been buying those for years too). All fine on installation, popped straight into the old FireAngel ceiling mount that I'd installed for the previous one. However I thought I might have to send this one back as we had a nuisance alarm from it on around the 3rd night after installation at 3am, grrrrrrrrrr! I pulled the batteries out as there was clearly no cause for alarm, and reinstalled again the next day and it's been fine since, so, so far so good, hopefully it has "bedded-in" now :o) UPDATED Dec2023 - That initial glitch didn't repeat itself, so I've bought another one to replace another 10-yr one (as usual only 7 year!) now which is fine so far :o) They fit straight into the existing mounting plates of my previous generation FireAngels which is super! UPDATE Oct2024 - AA cells still above 1.5V each after about a year, so it looks like AAs will probably last about 2 years which sounds fine. No more nuisance alarms after that first glitch so I'm ordering more as my last remaining 10year alarm has actually reached 10 years and needs binning.

Smoke alarms that really work
Theses smoke alarms are brilliant because they can be wall mounted as well as ceiling mounted

Just one concern
I swapped these for my original ST622 alarms because the battery life on those was never anywhere near the adverts, and these allow me to keep the existing base plates. They seem to be just as well made, with the advantage of replaceable batteries, but I have one concern. When you hit the test button the alarm sounds at reduced volume. I know this is handy so it doesn't damage your hearing, but it's also not a real test. How do I know the alarm is capable of going off at full volume? There's extra circuitry involved and that feels like an additional thing that might go wrong. Just something as simple as having a five second timer instead so I can be clear before it goes off would give me more confidence.
