Q: What is the exact difference between this and the ecobee3? this has still not been answered well, what will i miss out on?

Ecobee has also failed to mention and falsely advertised WINK Compatibility. It doesn't work. Please see note from their Canadian Customer Service.Hey XXXX thank you for contacting ecobee technical support,At this moment we only support the original ecobee3 platform on the WINK. The ecobee3 lite is not supported by WINK but we are working to change that as soon as possible, and are working directly with wink at the moment to fix this issue.So I would say this is another major difference. Also, the thermostats are different in size, use different backing plates. I found this out the hard way when I had to replace their poorly engineered LITE with a 3 because the LITE doesn't work as advertised. The product 3 is good, but I would steer clear of the LITE, looks like these smug Canadians rushed to market and didn't think things through.

Q: what if you have more than one zone? I have 3 zones, would i need to by one thermostat for each zone?

I also have 3 zones. I just installed my 3rd ecobee3 lite. In the app I put them in a group and can switch all 3 stats from heating, cooling, auto, or off at the same time. Also, they announced the lites now work with remote sensors.

Q: If i set it to lets say 76 degrees, when will it turn on the a/c and turn it off? would it be at 77 and 75? i know the nest range is too wide for me.

By default, if you set the ecobee to 76 degrees on COOL, the ecobee will activate the Cooling once it goes to 76.5 degrees. But you can customer this setting within the Thresholds section and change the setting by .5 degrees all the way to a full 5 degrees.

Q: Will this work with Wink?

NO, at this moment (1/20/2017), the ecobee3 Lite is NOT compatible with Wink, although the regular ecobee3 is supported. I discovered this when I went to set up my ecobee3 Lite with the Wink Hub 2. Although Wink could access my ecobee account, it could not find the thermostat. I contacted a customer service representative for Wink who confirmed that the ecobee3 Lite is not currently supported.
