Q: Is there a transparent film on the top??

Hi, the carbon one don't have transparent film, gloss black film has transparent film on the top.

Q: Some reviews say this is not sticking, maybe not enough heat is being used, how much heat should be used as I have an adjustable heat gun.

Depends on what material you’re sticking to. Also clean the surface properly with alcohol not sure which one or use a good degreaser. Wouldn’t need heat to stick. I only heated to get round corners
