Perry, I am sorry for the delay in responding but I am on the computer all day long and it is hard to get on in the evenings for personal. To answer your question, the inside of the tray is approx. 3.75"W x 9.25"L. I hope that helps. Sandy

It is crystal. Depends on what type of hot foods. It it hors d:oeuvre or hot snacks, I think it would work fine. But placing a hot pan on it I assume it would crack.
