Understang how these water heaters work
I started looking into tankless water heaters a few years ago when I started to have problems with my tank water heater.I replaced the thermostats and all was well but I noticed a leak and knew it was a matter of time before I would have to replace it. I found this model on Amazon and it appeared to have some good reviews and a few not so good reviews. So I took the plunge and acquired the heater. There are some facts that aren't in the description as exactly how this device works. Sure, they give you charts on water temps for different areas of the country, flow rates for the heater, ect. I live in Tennessee and right now ( November ) the cold water temperature is 53 degrees. After installing the heater I set the temp on the controller to 110 degrees, turned on the hot water faucet in the bathroom, and it barely got warm. Somewhat disappointing, I reset the temp to 120 degrees on the controller and it got slightly warmer. So I got to looking at the chart again realizing that probably the water temperature of 53 degrees was too cold for the heater to operate efficiently. The was a solution to my problem, in my case we have a small home, one bath and the normal bathroom sink and a sink in the kitchen, was controlling the inlet cold water volume to the water heater. I reduced the water volume to about 2.5 gallons per minute, set the controller temp on the heater to 120 degrees F. Now the water temp out of the faucets approached 118 degrees. Mixing in cold water I can enjoy endless hot water in the shower, that is hot. Another small anomaly is turning off hot water for a small amount of time will cause the heater to stop heating and it will introduce cold water in the outlet until it heats the water again. So if you turn off the hot water in your shower, ect., you will feel the chill for a few seconds.....This is a great heater and was fairly easy to install. Installing the #6 wire was the hardest part. I recommend this heater if you have a small home. It works well and I am very pleased with it.-BoBc

BUYERS BEWARE
The media could not be loaded. If you check Drakken and iHEAT’s Google and other reviews you will see many other customers saying what I’m about to also tell you.I purchased an S14 from Amazon on the advice of Drakken’s customer service guy in Miami to replace my previous iHEAT unit.In less than 30 days the heating elements simply stopped heating! You can see this from my video documentation that the unit could not sustain even a tepid temperature of 111 degrees when the heater was set at between 122 and 125 degrees. When I contacted the company they fully admitted to knowingly selling defective heaters!! They said the only thing I could do was to pay to uninstall it, drive to Miami, have them patch it back together, drive it back home and pay someone to reinstall it once again. The obvious problem with this is that you are paying for a brand new heater that doesn’t work, then when it stops working after only a few days iHEAT makes you either risk the same problem happening after repair or bring back a new replacement from the same manufacturer of the defective units. All while paying for multiple separate plumber and electrician installation fees that they will not cover one cent of.In total, I lost almost $1000 installing, uninstalling and reinstalling heaters because of this company. When I tried to explain this to them, they could care less despite the way that they make the customer pay hundreds or thousands of dollars to install and uninstall their defective units.Hopefully a class action suit will resolve the problems faced by so many of their formally loyal customers like myself.

Works great for a family of 5
4 month update- still works great! Never really noticed a difference in my electric bill like some people claim, but overall I’m still pleased with this purchase. I noticed some people saying it doesn’t last longer than 6-12 months. Hopefully that won’t be the case with mine. I will do another update around the 12th month mark to let you know how it is still working. We can have someone in the shower, dishwasher running, and clothes washer running all at the same time with no issues. We have also had both our showers going at the same time and still had no issues with a lack of hot water. Water heats up REALLY hot if set to the highest temperature. The best part of a tankless water heater.... we can all take showers back to back without ever running out of hot water. Not too mention, tankless is just simply more sanitary then those nasty tanks!Hook up was simple. I went to Home Depot and they helped with everything. I used shark bite adapters which made connecting all the pipes a breeze. I was worried about getting it and not being able to install it myself, but it truly was easy.I'm very pleased with my purchase and would definitely recommend it to everyone I know.
