Q: surely the hexagonal end drill bits shown would fit into the bosch easy reach adapter , why is a seperate drill adapter needed ?

It is geared so that the r.m.p. (revolutions per minute) is increased, whereas the easy reach adaptor is geared 1:1. The r.p.m. falls a long way short of a regular drill (bearing in mind that the drill bit diameters are small and smaller diameter drills require a higher rpm than larger ones), but the r.p.m. is still noticeably higher the the screwdriver speed and therefore more suitable for the task. The drill bit also locks in, so that the drill can be removed without leaving the drill bit behind in the thing that you are drilling.

Q: Will this cut photo paper and will the edge be as good as the original factory cut paper edge?

The cutter will give a clean, sharp edge provided a little care is taken. Use a suitable straight-edge not more than 4mm thick (you'll see why when you get the cutter) and then another flat surface about 6mm thick on top, but set slightly away from the edge of the first. Place the paper on top and then use the straight-edge as a guide. It's easier to do than describe, and as always, have a few practice cuts. The reason for the `stepped' design is so that two small rivet heads in the cutter don't foul the straight-edge and throw you off-line. The rivet heads are 5mm above the base and the blade is 10mm above the base. You might find it worthwhile making a permanent cutting table. I did!

Q: Can this be used with any almost drill or driver provided a 1/4" bit holder?

No. I've tried with the 4 bit holders I have. 2 fit and 2 do not. The 2 that fit have fairly thin walls. The od of the bits that fit are 9.95mm and 10.01mm. The ones that do not are 11.03 and 11.07mm.
