Q: Are the two blades the same length or is one longer than the other?

The one blade is longer than the other. When inserting place the long one in first down the side of the cork. don't push it in too far. About a half centimeter at a time. Then the other side. Repeat until it is in all the way to the handle. Don't force down on both sides at the same time, This will push the cork down. Once in all the way rotate twice clockwise and pull at the same time. The cork should come out intact. If one of the blades is stuck in to the side of the cork this means you have pushed too far on one side before pushing the other blade. This corkscrew is especially good at getting out corks in very old bottles of wine were the cork has usually gone a bit soft and would brake if a screw type cork screw is used. It takes a bit of practice but it is by far the best of all the corkscrews I have used.
