Pull the car backwards several times against the floor to “wind it up”. When you let go of the car it will propel itself forward and the headlights blink and sound plays.

I've ordered and returned two of these. I couldn't make the lights come on, either. There were no directions on how to change or replace the batteries, which I think were dead. It's cute, but doesn't work.
