Needed a front door lock that would not ruin the style of the house (1850) 10 minute install. Good sturdy lock, turns hard with the key for a while, but some wd-40 and time fixes that, all in all perfect lock.

I've previously ordered and installed three of these units, great solution on vintage, thin bedroom doors for rentals.I predrilled holes, used new screwdriver bit and all three of the screw heads stripped. Took hours and multiple tools to remove them so lock depth could be set correctly.Ordered screw extractor set, just stripped them further. I ended up using a metal bit, removing the screw heads, sliding the lock unit over the screw shanks then removing those with vice grips. Replaced screws with good ones from hardware store.Good lock, if you buy, definitely get better screws from your local hardware.

Overall this lock works as expected. I took off one star due to the fact that unlocking the deadbolt using the key does not turn the cylinder smoothly and sticks. Design flaw or cheap material? I requested a replacement thinking my lock was defective but the replacement was only slightly better. If you purchase this item, do not try to forcefully turn the key or you can risk breaking the key in the lock. I've found it better to rock or jimmy the key back and forth while turning to reduce the stress on the key. 5* for Amazon service, 4* for NU-SET until the key breaks in the lock.

Good build quality, fits and functions well. Has everything needed for quality install. I pulled the lock cylinder and rekeyed with no issues at all. Used on outdoor application and so far has held up well in conditions it’s not really designed for.

I have an old, historic home which I try to respect when making repairs. The lock which was on the door was this type of external lock, and although not original, prevented previous owners from having to cut out the original oak moldings as the door is recessed and not flush. Based on the appearance of the old lock, it had been there for years until it broke leaving me with a non-locking front door. Local hardware and home improvement stores had nothing which would work on my door. I came home that Saturday and ordered this on Amazon Prime. It arrived the first part of the week, installed in minutes, and once again I had a locking front door. Whew! It actually looks better than the old look and is far more secure.

I needed to replace a similar lock that had been damaged on my cellar door and chose this NU-SET. Since the door was already setup for this kind of lock, I simply replaced the surface mount portions, and used my old tumbler (internals) with the NU-SET. Works perfectly and looks nice.

I wish I could give this zero stars. I live in a 100+ year old house and without replacing the door and door frame, this is the only type of lock that will work, as well as the same type of lock that I was replacing.The cylinder spins and does not actually lock or unlock the unit. The key goes in smoothly and even though the cylinder spins, every turn is tough. Will be contacting Amazon to attempt to return this item.
