It works on my Sears Kenmore Elite free standing ice make. The Sears warranty guy that comes to do yearly checkup on the unit uses this exact brand (NU Calgon) cleaner just in a smaller bottle.

Q: What makes it different than Lime-Away or CLR?

If you use Lime-away or CLR they can eat through the metal plate that the ice forms on. That plate is usually coated with nickel, which is why the "nickel safe" term on the bottle is so important.
